In CSS you write markup, then separately write rules that reach into that markup via selectors. The rules cascade; the browser figures out which wins. In Compose, a UI is a Kotlin function. Calling the function builds the element. Styling is done by passing arguments and chaining Modifier values on the element itself. There's no global namespace, no specificity, no cascade.
