Start a Record Label
August 29, 2026

I Want to Start a Record Label. Why? Because I Want To.
I don't need a business plan. I don't need an audience. I don't even need a valid reason.
My brain just randomly decided, "Hey, starting a record label sounds fun," and honestly? That is all the justification required.
Zero Experience, Zero Care
I know virtually nothing about how the music industry actually functions, and I couldn't care less.
- I don't know what a music contract looks like.
- I have no idea how streaming royalties are calculated (besides knowing it's basically pocket change).
- I haven't talked to a single artist.
I just love good music, and I love the idea of building something around it simply because I can. If I end up spending three weeks over-engineering a slick custom music player on this website instead of doing actual "label management," so be it. It's my site. It's my time.
The Beauty of Doing Whatever I Want
Most people wait until they have a 50-page strategy deck before declaring an initiative. I'd rather just post about a random late-night hyperfixation on my own blog before I even figure out Step 1.
If this idea turns into an actual label down the line? Cool. If it gets buried under five other random projects next week? Also cool.
I'm writing this down purely because it was in my head today. What happens next is future Chiatoh's problem.
